Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) was retained by the County in July of 2021 to develop a Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan for the unincorporated areas of Bryan County.

Phase I, referred to as the Vision Plan, was approved by the Board of Commissioners on December 13, 2022, and sets an overall vision for the bicycle and pedestrian network that can be used to guide future planning decisions.  County staff and GMC established a strategy to develop this plan by:

• Building upon the foundation of the existing network of sidewalks, trails and bicycle lanes 

• Consolidating the recommendations from previously adopted plans, documents and studies that included elements for improving the multi-modal connectivity within Bryan County; and 

• Engaging the community through an on-line survey and public workshops to identify any gaps in the bicycle and pedestrian network not addressed by existing plans.

The resulting plan identifies a total of 24 potential projects in both the north and south ends of the County.
