The Engineering Department, under the leadership of the Engineering Director, is responsible for the design/design oversight and construction administration for infrastructure maintenance, repair, or new construction projects accomplished by contract; provides similar technical assistance for capital improvement projects undertaken by other County Departments. Staff assists in the day-to-day operations of roads and drainage maintenance on an as needed basis, and is responsible for administering road opening permit and culvert permit applications. Staff works closely with the Community Development Department and is responsible for the technical review of all subdivision and land development applications to ensure compliance with County Ordinances and requirements. Once approved, the Engineering Department provides technical assistance, monitors construction, and maintains project documentation throughout the life of the project including bonding and recommendations for final release. The Engineering Department is responsible for maintaining and updating all maps and data bases related to zoning, roads, utilities, and the Community Rating System (CRS) Program administered by FEMA; and provides drafting and mapping services to other departments all through the County’s Geographical Information System (GIS) Group. The GIS Group also oversees and maintains the County’s 911 Emergency Addressing System which includes the cities of Pembroke and Richmond Hill. |
