Coastal Regional Coaches is part of the regional rural public transit program that provides general public transit service in the Georgia counties of Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and Screven. This service is available to anyone, for any purpose, and to any destination in the coastal region. Fares are very affordable and vary with different itineraries.

Coastal Regional Coaches is a demand-response, advance reservation service that operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.

The fare for ridership on Coastal Regional Coaches is $3 per boarding (one-way trip) within your county of residence. A round trip within your county is $6. If you want to book a trip outside your county of residence, the fare is $3 within your county of residence plus an additional $3 per county boundary crossed (for a one-way trip). This fare is charged per person.

Example: A resident of Bryan County wants to schedule a trip to Chatham County with a return trip for later in the day. The cost for this “round trip” from Bryan County to Chatham and back to Bryan will be $12.

Fares are to be paid either prior to the service or at the time of boarding. Providers are not equipped to accept debit or credit cards, so all fares must be paid in cash.

If you would like additional information about the program, please contact David Dantzler at(912) 437-0800.

NOTICE: All requested trips must be called in before 12PM the day prior to the intended trip. Drivers will wait 5 minutes for you to board the van. After this time, the driver will move on to the next destination and will not return for a missed ride.

DHS Coordinated Transportation

The CRC contracts with the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) to provide administrative oversight to the DHS Coordinated Transportation program. This oversight ensures that timely and appropriate services are provided to eligible DHS consumers.

This service is restricted due to funding limitations and is subsequently based on eligibility criteria. “Eligible” DHS consumers include aging consumers as identified through an assessment by the Area Agency on Aging (AAA); recipients of the Georgia Department of Family & Children Services’ Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program. Consumers that participate in Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Addictive Diseases programs through the Division of Behavioral Health may also be eligible for coordinated transportation through the Department of Human Services.

If you are a recipient of a DHS funded service and are in need of transportation, please contact the Senior Director at the senior center you attend to see if you qualify for the service. You may also contact the Coastal Area Agency on Aging at 1-800-580-6860.

DFCS TANF consumers must contact their case manager. Mental health consumers must be assessed and referred by their case manager or mental health counselor.
