Bryan County issues Boil Water Advisory for parts of Buckhead East water customers.

Update for September 19, 2024:  Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Remaining Affected Areas.
We are pleased to inform you that all water quality tests have been completed, and residents in the remaining areas affected by the recent water main break can now safely return to normal water usage. The water has been confirmed to meet all safety standards, and there is no longer a need to boil water before consumption.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this process. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Bryan County Water Services at 912-459-6520.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Update for September 18, 2024:

The affected area now only includes residents of the Buckhead East subdivision, specifically those on Kingswood Drive from Murphy Ct to Fort McAllister. Residents in this area should continue following the boil water guidelines until further notice. We will provide updates as soon as the area is cleared for normal water usage.

To properly boil tap water for use, customers should:

  • Heat water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the container.
  • Continue heating the water for one minute once it begins to boil.
  • Remove the water from the heat source and allow to cool before use.

During a Boil Water Advisory, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that boiled tap water or bottled water be used for following:

·         Drinking

·         Brushing teeth

·         Washing food and preparing food and baby formula

·         Making ice

·         Drinking water for pets

Other activities such as cloth washing, dish washing and other uses can be done without boiling tap water, if done properly. The complete CDC guidance can be found at this website: https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/emergency/drinking/drinking-water-advisories/boil-water-advisory.html
